BREAKING NEWS: Stocks Battered Late In Session, Dow Falls 198

An attempted late-day comeback in stocks was stopped in its tracks as reports surfaced that Germany has already rejected certain aspects of an EU proposal to stem the region's debt crisis. The Dow fell 198, or 1.6%, to 11997 while Treasury prices rallied.
